Lactation Smoothie

I will soon need to spend one night away from little Jasmine =( so I've been madly trying to express milk, but with no success. When Jasmine was first born I struggled with milk supply so I made some lactation cookies and they worked wonderfully but they were full of butter, sugar, plain white flour etc. So last week I had the great idea of lactation bliss balls! How could I go wrong?? Well I did! Brewers yeast (the ingredient in the cookies that can help increase milk supply) is very strong and I clearly over did it. So today I moved on to a lactation smoothie. It's not to bad at all. It has an 'eat with a spoon consistency', which makes me always feel like I'm eating a dessert!

Don't let the name deter you, this smoothie won't suddenly cause non lactating people to lactate! Brewers yeast is very high in B group vitamins, minerals, folic acid and protein.

Place in Thermomix or blender:
1 handful cashews
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
2 frozen bananas
1 tray ice
Blitz on speed 7, 30 seconds

Add
1/2 - 1 tbs brewers yeast (available at health food stores)
1 tbs cacao powder
2 tbs honey
1 tbs coconut oil
Blitz on speed 8, 1 minute.

Serve as is or I topped mine with some activated buckinis & bee pollen.
Serves 2.

  1. You're a clever cookie. I'll put my order in for these later in the year :-)
